Care services
Help with washing, dressing and getting ready for the day — at the pace you set, from someone you know.
Personal care is the part people put off asking about. It is also the part that, done well, gives a day its shape: up, washed, dressed, breakfast, and out into the rest of it.
We do it the way you would want it done for your own mother. The same carer wherever we can, so you are not explaining yourself again each morning. Time to do it properly rather than a rush to the next call. And a plain conversation at the start about exactly what you want help with and what you would rather do yourself.
When it is not the right answer. If someone needs help at unpredictable times through the day and night, visiting personal care will not be enough on its own — live-in or night care is the honest answer, and we will say so.
What is included
The care plan is written with you, so this is a starting point rather than a fixed list.
A strip wash, a shower or a bath, with as much or as little help as you want, and the door closed.
Clothes you chose, hair and shaving, and time to look like yourself before anyone else sees you.
Discreet, unhurried, and without any fuss made about it. Our carers are trained in continence care and skin integrity.
Prompting, or administering from a blister pack, recorded on a MAR chart at every visit.
Support to transfer, stand and walk, including hoists and slide sheets where the assessment calls for them.
A proper cup of tea, something to eat, and the curtains open. Small things that are not small.
That is what we build the rota around. Holidays and sickness happen, and when they do we tell you in advance who is coming instead.
Yes, always, and we will not ask you to justify it.
One hour. Personal care done in fifteen minutes is not personal care.
