Companionship and home help
A proper conversation, the shopping done, and someone who notices when something is not right.
Loneliness is not a soft problem. It shortens lives, and it is the thing families worry about most when they live too far away to pop in.
Companionship care is time in the house with someone who is interested. It happens to also get the washing done, the bins out and the prescription collected — but the point of it is the company.
Who this suits
- Someone living alone whose days have gone very quiet
- A family who live too far away to call in regularly
- Someone recently bereaved who is managing, but not eating or going out
- Anyone who does not need personal care yet, but should not be on their own all week
When it is not the right answer. This is not a substitute for a mental health service. If someone is seriously depressed or at risk, they need their GP and a proper assessment, and we will help you push for one.

The care plan is written with you, so this is a starting point rather than a fixed list.
Company and conversation
A cup of tea and a proper chat. Cards, the crossword, the football, the garden, the photo albums.
Shopping
With you or for you, and the cupboards actually put away afterwards.
Light housework
Washing, ironing, hoovering, changing the bed, keeping on top of the kitchen.
Meals
Cooking something you actually want to eat, and sitting down with you while you eat it.
Getting out
A lift to the GP, the hairdresser, the garden centre, church or the day centre.
Keeping in touch
Help with the phone, a video call to the grandchildren, letters and forms.

Can the carer drive my relative to appointments?
Yes — in your car or theirs, insured for the purpose. Say so at the assessment so we match a driver.
Is this cheaper than personal care?
We quote on the visit length and what is involved, not on a service label. You get it in writing after the assessment.
Can we start with one visit a week?
Yes. Many families do, and build up when it is clearly helping.
